Interview with Oceanic Entertainment

I’m here with Monte Bridges, co-founder of Oceanic Entertainment. I’ll ask him a few questions about how he got his start in Hollywood and what he is up to now.

Monte Bridges

What does Oceanic Entertainment primarily do?

We find film, television, and music projects.

What is your team like? Who do you work with?

I guess everyone has talents and skills. They all have creative smarts, they know what comes in trends and what is currently working.

One of my business partners, is a music producer. He has trained with some of the best. For example, if I find some music I like, I take it to him and see what he thinks. It’s not what you know, a big part of it is who you know. The whole world gets opened up with a good business partner.

My other business partner, she, is really, really smart. Not only is she really smart, she is really hard-working. She will knock on any door. She also comes from a family that has been in the industry a long time.

I guess, one thing that ties everyone together is we’re all hardworking. The word “no” is not in our vocabulary. We all use each other as sounding boards, and we make sure we’re on the right page .

What is a typical day like?

A typical day is based around meetings or projects. So if you have something booked, that is the first-order of precedence. If you don’t have something booked, you try to get something booked. The whole day is a race to get things sold and momentum rolling. Once you get one thing you want, you want to get the next and the next and the next.

What are normal hours?

You don’t even want to ask that. In saying that, it’s not that it’s really arduous or gruelling, but it’s uh, I usually don’t go to bed before 1am. And, I guess the question is how early do you have to get up?

How did you get started?

Hmmm, you mean what was the initial inspiration to start this instead of a car wash?

Yes.

Well, that’s a very good question. I was taking gross anatomy one day in college and couldn’t get a content movie idea out of my head. And thought, “Something is wrong, I’m suppose to concentrating on my medical career. ” The idea wouldn’t go away, and it was like a light on a dark night. It captivated me.

How did Oceanic Entertainment form?

Basically, it came out of . . . totally random, I walked into a club I’ve only been to a couple of times. I ran into this guy and we became friends and business partners. So that’s where it came from.

What projects have you been working on recently?

We have an artist on Capitol Records named Angela Via, http://www.myspace.com/angelavia, who, hopefully, will have her album released in the near future. Basically, she is the Latin Mariah. She has an amazing voice and is really cute in a Mariah Carey way.

Angela Via

Ocianic, the band (spelling not to be confused with Oceanic Entertainment).

Ocianic

There’s a number of television shows that we are working on right now, but we’re trying to keep them under wraps. But one that we can talk about, because we already have the primary things out of the way. It’s called “Shooting with the Stars.”

So, basically a bunch of celebrities will run around with paintball-guns and real guns and every form of gun. Train with them for a few weeks — army recon, military training, schooting schools. Then, we’ll see how good these celebrities — Stone Cold Steve Austin, Rick Schroder (of NYPD Blue), Michael Rooker, Bret Michaels (lead singer from Poison) — are after getting trained by some of the best in the world. So we’re of the process of shopping it. Just placed a few phone calls.

Thank-you for your time.

It has been my pleasure.

How can we contact you?
